What are we waiting for?
We asked in 1999
when spring saw blood in Columbine,
What are we waiting for?
We asked in 2005
when Red Lake High bled and cried,
What are we waiting for?
We asked in 2012
when babes were slaughtered in Newtown,
What are we waiting for?
We asked in 2018
when wails filled Marjory Stoneman Douglas High,
What are we waiting for?
We asked, gasping, just three months later
when Santa Fe shook, when ten more died,
What are we waiting for?
Another ten, perhaps?
Or your child, or yours, or yours?

Moving. The last line hit me hard .. I’ve become almost desensitized watching it happen to the rest of the world, but I sure don’t want it to happen to mine ..and I still don’t know what to do about it..

I, too, wish I knew the answer.

This resonates with me as an educator, and a parent. A walking nightmare on repeat, and a daily choice of international peace. Your accuracy and emotion is on point.❤

The ultimate question no politician can answer. I felt this is in my soul. Thank you for putting into words what so many cannot.

Politicians look dumbfounded like there is nothing that can be done but thoughts and prayers. However, they keep creating unnecessary blue live matter bills when cops kill citizens at 10x the number of in the line of duty deaths for cops. 13% of those murdered by police are unarmed. Somehow they manage to draft and pass legislation all the time when they want to.
This is definitely more of its my job to, so of course we can, in fact of course we should, but we won’t because our concern for that lobbying money is higher than our concern for the welfare of the people who elected us.
